COVID-19: No need for panic, says MoS H&FW in Imphal

 Union minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Adhwini Kumar Choubey on Thursday said that his ministry is taking all measures to monitor outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the country.

 

The Union minister who was in Imphal for a few hours' visit told reporters that there is no need for panic of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

 

“All measures have been taken up to monitor the outbreak of the disease. My ministry is provided all necessary assistance to the states in preparing for tacking the outbreak of coronavirus,” he said.

 

"There will be no lapses in dealing with any developing situation regarding the spread of the disease. My ministry is always ready to help the states in tackling the outbreak of the disease", the Union minister added.

 

The Union minister was talking to reporters after attending Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) annual meet at the auditorium of the institute.

 

Earlier addressing the opening function of the meet, the Union Health and Family Welfare minister said that Centre is committed to taking the centrally-run RIMS Imphal to greater heights.

 

He also assured that he will press Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide all possible assistance in the efforts to bring up RIMS to the status of AIIMS under Centre’s target of providing quality healthcare service to all citizens of the country by 2022.

 

Stating the healthcare service provided by RIMS is improving, he said that patients from Myanmar visiting the institute for medical treatment showed the improving healthcare service.

 

"To make RIMS better and well equipped and to take it to a higher level is the dream and aim of the Central government. Centre has been working on this motive since RIMS came under it,” he also said.

 

RIMS is one of the premier institutes in the Northeast region of the country established in 1972 with the sole objective to impart quality medical education and improve the health condition of the region.

 

In 2007, the regional campus was upgraded to central university level under the Union minister of Health and Family Welfare.
