The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) is all set to introduce wrestling as a compulsory game in all educational institutions under its jurisdiction.

A programme to launch the proposed move will be held on August 26 at Pfutsero under Phek district with Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) President Neivikuolie Khatsu attending as the special guest. Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) President Kekhwengulo Lea will be the valedictory guest while Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) President Kesosul Christopher Ltu will be the special invitee.

The main objective of the launching of wrestling in educational institution is to encourage and support interested students to choose wrestling as a professional career thereby, also protecting and promoting their traditional game.

Encouraging students to take to wrestling, the union viewed that it will help give an opportunity to the youth to explore their talents and could also help in eradicating the unemployment problem in the state.

The wrestling will be played in 3 categories viz., Group A (College), Group B (Higher Secondary) and Group C (High School).

All the educational institutions have been asked to send maximum number of five participants in each category. Any bona fide CSU member(s) studying outside Chakhesang jurisdiction but aspiring to participate have been asked to submit a photo copy of birth certificate, school college ID card, 2 passports and authorization letter from their respective unit presidents.
