Dimapur, March 20 (MExN): The Customs (Preventive) Division, Dimapur under the Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) North East Region, Shillong destroyed 397.443 kg of Narcotics and Psychotropic substances valued at Rs 30,95,935 along with other miscellaneous goods (cigarettes, cosmetics, mosquito repellants etc) of foreign origin valued at Rs 23,50,240 on March 20 at Lengrijan near Kuda Mill, Dimapur which were seized and confiscated by the Officers of Customs (Preventive) Division Dimapur.
A press release from Customs (Preventive) Division Dimapur, Assistant Commissioner Imkong Toshi Ao stated it was carried out in pursuance of the Court’s orders passed by the District and Sessions Judge & Special Judge (NDPS), Dimapur & Kohima Nagaland, Session Judge Nagaon, Assam, and with the approval of the Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), North East Region, Shillong.
The release further said the destruction was carried out in the presence of Additional Commissioner of Customs Preventive, NER HQ Shillong; Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Preventive) Division, Dimapur; Judicial First Class Magistrate, Dimapur; Officers/Staff of Customs (Preventive) Division, Dimapur and the village authorities.
