CYF condemns torching of thatched houses

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Chahesang Youth Front (CYF) today condemned an incident on November 28 wherein miscreants “trespassed” into Khezhakeno village, Phek District, Nagaland, jurisdiction at Chida Valley and torched down ten thatched houses meant for tourists.

A press release from the CYF president, Lhuvesayilohe and general secretary, Medovelosono alleged that the trespassers were from Tungjoy Village under Senapati District. It further informed that the thatched houses were a part of Hornbill Festival.

“This provocative attack of burning houses within the ancestral territorial jurisdiction of a bonafide village member of Chakhesang Community is been viewed with utmost seriousness and tantamount to direct challenge to the life and property of the Chakhesang community,” the CYF stated.

It asked the Tungjoy village to “hand over the culprits involved” and cautioned against “future provocations and misadventures.”
