Dimapur, January 12 (MExN): The annual Games and Sports Meet 2011 of Chakhesang Youth Organization Dimapur District (CYODD) begun on January 11 at Seluophe village. The meet is being organized under the theme “unity through sports”. Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor, Sericulture and Co-operation, Nagaland along with his wife graced the inaugural programme as the chief guest and declared the tourney open. Speaking on the occasion, Zhimomi called upon the youth to avail the various programmes initiated by the government for the uplift of the youth.
He said that the DAN government is giving maximum privilege to the youth. Encouraging the participants and organizers, he urged them to endeavour to produce good sportspersons by holding such sports events and provide them opportunity to compete at higher levels. He further urged the players to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship while competing against each other.
As a gesture of love he donated a sum of Rs. 75,000 to the organizers – CYODD, Rs. 30,000 towards the host village and Rs. 3000 each to the 15 units/villages, which are participating in the meet. A host of public leaders and NPF party workers of Dimapur accompanied the chief guest to the function. Football for men and volleyball for both men and women are the competing disciplines. The meet will conclude on January 15 with Zekotso Mero, SP Dimapur as the guest of honour.
