Chetheba, December 20 (MExN): D. Ballers from D-Khel Kohima Village defeated Team Junior Runumole 53-35 in the final match to win the first edition of Winter Open Basketball Challenger 2017 here at the Chetheba Town Local Ground under Phek district on Wednesday. The tournament was organised by Team Huskers.
Ruokuovilie Kire was unstoppable for D. Ballers as he scored 27 points and Dziesekhrietou Kire added 15 points to beat their rival team Runumole by a margin of 18 points in the final match.
D. Ballers got going from the start and led by eight points at the halfway point outscoring Team Junior Runumole 25-15.
The team from Kohima continued their dominance in the second half with Ruokuovilie seemingly scoring at will and leading the team to a comfortable 53-35 win.
Point guard Ruvezo Swuro scored 12 points for Team Junior Runumole.
Champions D. Ballers walked home with cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with citations while the runners-up Team Junior Runumole received Rs 10,000.
Meanwhile, Vesacho Resu won the two-point shooting competition while Vesato Nyekha was the winner for three-point shooting competition.
