DC & DEO Kohima meets political parties on Electors Verification Prog

Kohima, August 13 (MExN): In connection with the Electors Verification Programme (EVP), the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Office (DC&DEO) Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS today held a meeting with representatives of political parties.


According to a DIPR report, the meeting held at DC & DEO’s Office Chamber also discussed pre-revision exercise, Thejawelie stated that the preparation of Electoral Roll was one of the most important exercise besides other election process as election takes place basing on the prepared E-Rolls. 


Informing that it requires combined efforts to carry out thorough exercise to enable the E-Rolls, which are complete in all aspects, he impressed upon the representatives to give due importance and active cooperation during the exercise in coming days, the report said. 


In the ensuing Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with January 1, 2020 as the qualifying date, DC&DEO said that whoever reaches the age of 18 years of age on the aforesaid date should find their names in the E-Rolls apart from correction/deletion and inclusion to be made, it added. 


He also highlighted on the pre-revision activities to be taken up under the exercise and informed that EVP will commence from September 1 to 30, during which necessary verification or corrective measures would be taken up. 


Simultaneously, the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out house to house verification during the same period. 


According the report, the provision of rationalization of polling stations will also be taken up and Draft Publication of E-Roll will be done on October 15.


 The DC&DEO also pointed out that besides the BLOs and other workforce appointed by the Election Department and Government side, provision for appointment of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) by the political parties is also required to work hand in hand with the BLOs, it said. 


Stating that such action would strengthen the entire exercise, he also expressed hope that all the political parties would give assistance to ensure a successful implementation, it added. 


 Assistant Election Officer, Toshimeren also highlighted on the concept of the EVP and the roles of BLOs in the exercise and requested the political parties to disseminate the information through their workers at different levels.


He also encouraged the people to come forward and get verified during the exercise so as to have clean and error free E-Rolls, the report said.
