DC Kohima informs printing press

Kohima, January 19 (DIPR): DC & DEO, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, has in a notification on January 19 informed all Printing Press in Kohima district regarding restriction on the printing of Pamphlets, Posters etc., as governed by the provisions of Section-127A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The order further stated that the provisions of the said Section shall be strictly observed during the General Election to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.  

The notification drew a special reference to the observation made by the Supreme Court in Rahim Khan vs Khurshed Ahmed and others (AIR 1975 SC 290) read with the provisions of the Constitution as contained in the Commissions' Order dated 2nd September, 1994 for strict observance and compliance on the subject.  

In view of the above provisions, all the Printing Press in Kohima district have been directed to strictly follow the under mentioned instructions while printing such materials:  

1. To indicate clearly in the print line the names and addresses of printer and publisher of any election pamphlets or posters such other materials printed by them.  

2. The printer should send three copies of the printed materials and the declaration obtained from the publishers as required under Section 127 A (2) within three days of its printing to the undersigned.  

Any violation of the provisions of Section 127 A and the directives of the Commission shall be seriously viewed and stern action will be taken on those cases including revocation of licence of the printing press under the relevant laws of the state.
