DCC Dimapur welcomes newcomers, homecomers

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): District Congress Committee (DCC) Dimapur held a welcoming programme on February 13 for homecomers and newcomers from BJP, NDPP and NCP at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur.


A press release from Kutoho Chishi Secretary Media Cell stated that Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President K Therie, speaking on the occasion acknowledged the homecomers and newcomers for joining the party in an endeavor to strengthen the nation and Nagaland in particular.


Therie said that Prime Minister Modi has “destroyed every Constitutional institution and divided India on the basis of religion, sector, class and the long established mutual love, respect and understanding for the minorities and the voiceless have been crushed by the BJP regime.”


Therie further observed that “secularism and freedom enshrined in the Constitution of India to every citizen are all in question today.”


He said the BJP are blindly driven by the ideology of establishing a Hindu nation while totally disregarding other religions and sections of the masses. He said that Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) has put the identity of Nagaland, the indigenous people of the region under threat. Though “Congress does not have representative in the state Assembly, NPCC has defended the interests of the people since the inception of the controversial Bill,” stated Therie and further conveyed the Congress’ commitment to scrap the Bill if given opportunity.


Dwelling on the Naga political issue, NPCC President expressed appreciation to the negotiating teams, and reiterated the stand of their party to endeavor to solve the political issue through peaceful and Constitutional means.


Therie further called for each member to work collectively for the welfare of the people and that if given opportunity, “Congress Government will provide security and safety to life and property to the people.”


Therie also welcomed the induction of Priyanka Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia and concluded that the INC Lok Sabha candidate will be announced after due consultations with like-minded political parties and leaders.


Also addressing the programme, Jonathan Ao, VP NPCC, said honesty of members on their political outlook is the need of the hour. He expressed happiness to the home comers and new comers for their decision to rejoin the Congress party.


He said the impact of their decision will be felt particularly in the backdrop of the “BJP’s journey to establishing a dictatorship in India and wished the gathering success in the endeavor to rebuild the pillars of secularism, equality and brotherhood.”
