DCPU Wokha holds sensitisation programme on child protection

Wokha, May 28 (MExN): The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Wokha had organized a two days sensitisation programme on child protection, child trafficking and protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 at Sanis and Bhandari Block on May 25 and 26 respectively.  

Mary Swuro, Protection Officer (NIC) DCPU, Wokha in a press release said that the programme was organised in respect of 24 villages under Sanis Block and 29 villages under Bhandari Block. The participants were village council, church leaders, women organization, student organisation, para lagal volunteers, anganwadi workers from the respective villages and Police rank and file from Sanis and Bhandari Police stations.  

The main objective of the sensitisation programme is to connect law with the rural peoples, so that the rural children can become the beneficiaries of the various schemes available under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) provided by the Ministry of Woman and Child Development.  

The resource persons were Neinguvotuo Krose, Legal cum Probation Officer and Yahamo Patton, member Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The resource persons spoke on the topic duties and function of Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Child Trafficking, Child Rights and role of Child Welfare Committee (CWC).  

The programme was chaired by Medoleu Zhatsu, Counsellor DCPU, welcome address by Sekho Dawhuo DCPO and summing up by Dr. K.C Murry Chairperson Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Wokha respectively.
