DDADU launches ambulance service

Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) has acquired an ambulance that will cater to medical emergencies of its members and to the public at nominal rates.  

Addressing the gathering at the premises of DDADU office after inaugurating the vehicle, Parliamentary Secretary for Economics & Statistics, Tovihoto Ayemi lauded the Union for acquiring the ambulance to serve their needs and the public as well and described it as an “excellent and noble project.”  

Stating that autorickshaws were an important and convenient mode of transport for the public, he urged the autorickshaw drivers to keep public safety and convenience as their main goal even as they serve the public and earn livelihood at the same time.  

He said DDADU has grown into a matured organization and urged their members to continue rendering their service with sincerity and dedication.  

District Transport Officer, Dimapur, Lovikali Yeptho who was the guest of honour also appreciated the Union for announcing that the ambulance could be used not only by the members but the public also.  

She said that the autorickshaw drivers bear the mirror and image of the state and its people as they are the ones who first encounter any outsider reaching Dimapur for any purpose. Lovikali encouraged them to continue exhibiting their good manners and behaviours to outsiders and added that any good deed done would not go in vain.  

DDADU President I. Vitoshe Sema, DDADU Joint Secretary, Renthungo Tsopoe, DDADU Advisor Lipok Pongen and others also addressed the gathering. Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu and Rev Alem Jamir pronounced prayers during the programme.
