Dimapur, February 24 (MExN): as part of the District touring programme of Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC), a meeting was held at Purana Bazar 'B' under 3 Dimapur III A/C on February 22.

Media Cell, DDCC in a press release said, while addressing the gathering, Bendangyanger DCC President said “public are the witness of how Rio led PDA government is functioning.” Reminding the gathering that there were lots of schemes from the centre, but never really reach the masses, Bendangyanger urged the party workers to work hard for the victory of the party in order to bring change.

Akavi N Zhimomi, Secretary, NPCC who spoke on the occasion said the freedom of speech guaranteed by the Constitution is suppressed and curtailed by the BJP led Government, and any dissent is considered as an act of sedition. “If the Government can slap charges of sedition on senior journalists, politicians, social activists,” Akavi wondered how the fate of a common man will be. He encouraged the party workers not to demoralize themselves but work selflessly for the victory of the party.

Further stating that unless the people have clear concept about the Congress party, the entire campaign will be futile, Akavi exhorted the party workers to be well equipped with the ideology of the Congress. Though the party does not have a single MLA or MP in Nagaland, he exuded confidence of Congress coming back to power.

Temjenyanger, Secretary, NPCC told the gathering that the people of India had put their trust and given their mandate to the INC for more than 50 years and the Congress had been able to come to power because of the grassroot level Congress workers.

Sentila, DMCC President expressed dismay at how the BJP Government changed Christmas to Good Governance day, and Good Friday to Digital India day. She said that the BJP also stopped giving scholarship to theology students. She further said that Modi Government promised to give LPG subsidy, but even that was not refunded.

Sentila further stressed on how price rise has become a grave concern for housewives. She further lamented on the deplorable road condition that has compelled the public to contribute money from among them to repair the roads. Stating that “our future is at stake,” she opined it was “up to us to decide which is best for our future.”

Goan Bura of Purana Bazaar 'B' Village acknowledged the Congress party workers stating that “political parties and MLAs usually do not visit the electors who vote them to power but the Congress party has set an example by going door-door hearing the grievances of the common people.”
