DDLSA holds legal seminar with domestic workers

DIMAPUR, January 22 (MExN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with the National Domestic Workers Movement organized a legal seminar at Chungaizaeng Rongmei Community Hall, Burma Camp on January 19.   Summing up the programme, Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary DDLSA stressed on the need to come out with Nagaland Domestic Workers Act.  

Pointing out that Legal Services Authority is for the marginalized section of the society he assured the domestic workers that the authority will provide assistance and protection to safeguard their rights.  

Imchen urged not to withdraw complaints while under pressure but to seek the help of the Legal Services Authority. He asked the domestic workers not to let anyone deprive them of their rights.  

Topics on various Legal rights and schemes were spoken by the DDLSA Panel Lawyers. Panel Lawyer Kekhriele Mezhü, Moatila Ao and Yambemo Ngullie spoke on Women Rights and Domestic Violence, Consumer Rights and NSLSA Scheme. The programme was chaired by Panel Lawyer Nishela where she also highlighted about the Legal Services.   Around 130 Domestic Workers attended the programme.
