DDLSA, SAKHI hold legal awareness prog with LEED

DIMAPUR, April 29 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with SAKHI-One Stop Centre (OSC) conducted a one day Legal awareness programme with members of Lotha Eloe Ekhung, Dimapur at Lotha Hoho-Ki, Dimapur on April 29.  

Delivering the keynote address, GH Ramlia, Principal District and Session Judge and Chairman, DDLSA, spoke on the importance of creating such awareness programme especially for the marginalized section of the society.  

While talking on gender equality, Ramlia said women play an important role in the society, which is why women need to know their rights so as to come in parity with man.  

Bovili K Chishi, Case Worker, SAKHI-OSC, spoke on the role and functions of OSC and appraised that the center takes care of physical and psychological well being of women who are victims of various kinds of violence.  

Speaking on anti-human trafficking/NALSA Schemes, Moatila Ao, Panel Lawyer DDLSA, informed that the primary objective of the Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Scheme, 2015 is to provide legal assistance against trafficking and sexual exploitation and the scheme covers children, adolescent girls and women of all ages.  

She also said that the scheme seeks to provide an action plan to prevent sexual exploitation of these individuals while ensuring rescue and rehabilitation of the victims of trafficking and voluntary sex workers.  

Panel Lawyers from the DDLSA, Zuchumbeni, Moatila Ao, DzuvinoChadi, Rokovitsu and ZachariaTetseo spoke on topics such as Women Right/ Domestic Violence Act, Consumer Protection Act, RTI and LokAdalat/ welfare schemes for women respectively.  

Ajongba Imchen, CJM and Secretary, DDLSA, during interaction session clarified queries raised by the participants. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Sungsabeni, President Lotha Eloe Ekhung, Dimapur, while Sentimenla, panel lawyer chaired the programme.
