Defer laying of foundation stone for Polytechnic, HOB youth appeals

Longleng, September 24 (MExN): The Hukphang Orangkong Bhumnyu (HOB) Youth Organisation has appealed the Education Department to defer the proposed laying of foundation stone for Government Polytechnic at Yungho Yongyah.

The youth organisation in a memorandum to the Director of Technical Education raised objection over the “haphazardly proposed programme” of laying the foundation stone on September 26 and maintained that it “is tantamount to inviting serious confrontation” which would create serious law and order problem. “Your department would be solely held responsible,” it warned.

The HOBYO informed that it was, along with the apex HOB Council and the aggrieved 22 villages under Longleng circle, contemplating to appeal the judgment and order passed by the Single Bench of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench before a higher judiciary for justice.

In this regard, the HOBYO and its apex HOB Council along with the 22 aggrieved villages appealed the Department to defer/withdraw the proposed programme.

Meanwhile, the HOBYO has also requested the Phom People’s Council (PPC) and the Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) to abstain from the proposed programme since that the present issue is against the resolution passed by the PPC and PSC.

“Irrespective of the Judgment & Order dated 11/9/17 passed by the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, the PPC is requested to take up the matter immediately in order to avoid conflict,” the HOBYO stated. Failing which, the HOB Youth Organisation, apex HOB Council along with the 22 aggrieved villages shall not cooperate with the PPC, it cautioned.
