Demonstration on VVPAT held at Mokokchung

Mokokchung, November 7 (DIPR): Demonstration on use of Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machine was held at ADC (Planning) conference hall on November 7. The demonstration was attended by all AEROs under Mokokchung district, master trainers of VVPAT, representative from political parties and NGOs.  

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel while welcoming the officials to the demonstration said use of VVPAT along with EVM will be mandatory in all election as per the directive of the Election Commission of India. As such, it is imperative to acquaint with the VVPAT machine. He said it is particularly important as the election to the Nagaland legislative assembly is near. He therefore requested all the participants to make themselves familiar with VVPAT.DC said more trainings are on the line to fully educate all the stake holders and the voters in the district.  

Dr Temsu, Imti Asstt Prof. from FAC college Mokokchung, one of the mater trainers demonstrated the mechanism and use of VVPAT.  

VVPAT is an electronic machine consisting of two units: ballot slips compartment and status display unit and it will be connected with EVM’s ballot unit and control unit. All the details of the voter’s serial numbers and party’s symbol to whom the voters vote will be printed.
