DGAR visits Kohima; meets Gov, CM

Kohima, January 11 (MExN): Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), visited Kohima on January 10 and paid homage to the martyrs at the Kohima War Cemetery.  

He also visited Headquarters IGAR (North) in Kohima and the Assam Rifles garrison at Chiswema, where he reviewed the security situation, informed a press release from Assam Rifles.  

During his visit to the Kohima garrison, he complimented the troops of the Force for their dedication and devotion to duty and felicitated six outstanding personnel with the Director General Assam Rifles Commendation Card.  

The DGAR also called on PB Acharya, Governor and TR Zeliang, Chief Minister of Nagaland. They had a discussion on wide range of issues during the interaction. The Governor and the Chief Minister complimented Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan on assuming the coveted appointment of DGAR and conveyed their appreciation for the contribution of the Assam Rifles towards maintaining peace and tranquillity in Nagaland, the release stated.
