Digitalization under eCourts Project Nagaland

Training on Case Information Software (CIS) version 3.0 and usage of Video Conference (VC) system between Courts and Jails concludes

Kohima, July 21 (MExN): Three-day refresher training programme on Case Information Software (CIS) version 3.0 and usage of Video Conference (VC) system between Courts and Jails concluded today, held at Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench from July 19 to 21.  

Y. Longkumer, NJS Registrar-cum-CPC Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench in a press release stated that it is an initiative of the eCourts Project Nagaland headed by Y. Longkumer, NJS, Registrar-cum-Central Project Coordinator, eCourts Project Nagaland and twenty six trainees from various district court of Nagaland attended the training programme.  

Amento Asumi, Programmer, Khetilo Seb, Sr. Technical Officer and Phoukuozetuo Zatsu, Developer, were the resource person for the training on CIS version 3.0, which is an upgraded and improved version of the software, with the successful implementation of the software in the courts of Nagaland, it will mark its presence in the National Portal and the cases will be available in the eCourt website which can be viewed from anywhere across the country or the world through the internet.  

Training on usage of Video Conference was conducted by Inalo Zhimomi, District & Sessions Judge, Mon and. Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur.  

Zhimomi spoke on the various advantages of taking up cases through VC system, he stated that taking up cases through VC empowers the witness and also provide security to the witnesses as well as the accused in some sensitive cases.  

He also stated that the hurdle of security issue related to transportation of the accused from jail to court and vice versa is avoided which helps in speedy delivery of Justice. He also informed the trainees about the guidelines of the court on how to use the VC, various methods of conducting the cases over VC, the roles of VC coordinators of the court and of the remote site (i.e., the jail); How to produce the documents, the witnesses, how to record the VC case proceedings and how to save the digital evidence of the case and take backup of the VC session. He concluded his session by informing the trainees on how the Supreme Court of India played a major role in adapting various technologies including the VC system as a means to help the courts and the public in delivery of Justice.  

Ajongba Imchen in his session spoke on how VC system is helping the nation specially the news channels in connecting the various brains across the world, debating and solving various issues. He also stated how VC system is helping the courts in other states saving both time and resources and helping in speedy delivery of Justice. He emphasized on the bottleneck faced by our state in practical application of VC system, connectivity and power issue being a major hurdle apart from other court related technicalities.  

Imchen also shared his personal experience on how he coped with change and embraced new technology, and encouraged the trainees not to be scared of the system but to take it up as a challenge and always be open to learn new things to succeed in life.
