Dimapur: 3 held for selling ‘PUMA’ products illegally

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): Three persons were arrested by the Dimapur Police on January 12 for illegal possession and sales of “counterfeit/duplicate PUMA products with Trade Marks (Cat logo),” an official release informed today.  

“The East PS Personnel along with the an attorney of PUMA Company from Mangalore conducted a joint raid in few suspected garment/footwear shops at New Market and NL Road area on January 12, stated the press release by the Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO.  

Prior to the raid, information was received through local sources about the illegal business and accordingly the shops and the proprietors were spotted in advance, it said.  

According to the police, the raid led to seizure of 37 pieces of track pants, 1 t-shirt and 6 track suits from Babu Garment Shop located in Nyamo Lotha Road.  

In another store called ‘Deepak Store’ located in the same locality, 118 pieces of ladies wear, 33 track pants and 18 track suits were recovered, it maintained.  

Subsequently, proprietors of ‘Babu Garment Shop’ Ghandi Das (51 yrs) and Biswajit Gosh (42 yrs) as well as the proprietor of Deepak Store, Bakul Saha (40 yrs) were arrested, the police said.  

Along with the seized items, they were brought to East Police Station, Dimapur and a case was registerd under relevant Copy Right Act, it added.  

“Investigation revealed all the seize items were illegally imported from Myanmar country, and illegally purchased and sold in local market with same trademark of Puma (Cat Logo),” the police further claimed.
