Dimapur to celebrate WMD with a purpose!

On June 21st, Dimapur town will be celebrating World Music Day (WMD) at State Stadium. This event is a joint collaboration and effort of the organizers and musicians who will be coming together to put up a show for free.   As per the theme of WMD, all musicians are giving their performance for free. During a press conference held today at Aiers Enclave, the organizers for the Dimapur show had informed that this year, the event will be more meaningful as they want to not only highlight music but make it profitable for underprivileged children. The organizers opined that there are so many young talents, but who cannot afford to enrol at music schools, buy musical instruments or reading materials. Hence, we hope to act as a bridge between underprivileged children and music schools here in Dimapur, they stated.   Therefore, the organizers appealed to any music schools willing to sponsor talented underprivileged students for music classes for a year. The organizer also committed that they will have a screening committee to select the students with the help of prominent musicians. To this cause, there will be a free will offering collection at the venue to prepare the selected underprivileged students for purchase of materials required.   The organizers will soon be announcing the musician line-up for the event, but top bands from Dimapur and music schools are expected to participate. It was also informed that few performance slots are available, so interested musicians are requested to contact the organisers.  Open invitation to professional videographers and photographers to cover the event was also extended. Interested sponsors towards underprivileged children are also requested to contact the organisers.   “Even in the history of music, you will see all the top musicians are from the streets. We are hoping thatthrough World Music Day event we will help a young person who one day might say that through music he or she is earninga livelihood and have become  abetter person,” stated the organisers adding , “Please come, listen to music and donate generously.”   Organised by Sky Entertainment, The Institute for Music Education, and Crescendo Events.
