Dimapur Govt College honours outgoing faculty members

Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): Dimapur Government College (DGC) bade farewell to two of its oldest serving faculty members, Bendangmongla Ao, Vice-Principal and Chhanda Dutta, HoD, Department of Bengali on September 1 in a function at the college premises.

The programme, which was chaired by Dr Maongsangba, Associate Professor, comprised of speeches, songs and poetry from the Principal Kavili Jakhalu, faculty members, ministerial staff, former colleague, alumni, student community and the retirees. The College stated in a press release that the common refrain that was heard from the speakers on the contribution of the two ladies was their sincerity and commitment to work coupled with amiable and adjustable dispositions. Calling them the pillars of the college who have worked hard to nurture the college from its youthful age to its maturity, many speakers equated them with mother figures.

Bendangmongla Ao was also feted for her honesty, consistency, team spirit and helpful nature. Chhanda Dutta was appreciated for her energy, congeniality, and love for students, healthy lifestyle and also for being an excellent ambassador for the Bengali community in Nagaland. Their uncommon contributions to the college were recalled fondly while good wishes for living happy retired lives were rendered.

Accompanied by their respective spouses, the outgoing faculties were gifted with presents and they also reciprocated the gesture with parting gifts to the college teachers. A special prayer was pronounced by Rebainla, Associate Professor.
