Dimapur Night Carnival: Street performers welcome to participate

Tribute to the late Hokivi Chishi on day 2

Day 2 of the 7-day long Dimapur Night Carnival 2017 was marked with the organising committee remembering and paying tribute to the late Hokivi Chishi, ex-president of the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Recalling Chishi’s contribution, the organising committee described Chishi as a hands-on man, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the Carnival took place without any hitches.  

The organising committee further appreciated the cooperation and patience shown by the stall owners and visitors on the opening evening. Start was delayed because of the rain; however the organising committee said that the entrepreneurs ensured that it commenced nevertheless.  

Aside from a wide variety of stalls, the Carnival will have artistes performing every evening. The performances include, solo vocal artistes, stand-up comedians, dance and music groups. “This year’s stall make-up has greater variety,” the organising committee said. Raffle draw will be held on each day with mobile phones as prizes sponsored by Gionee and Lemon, it was added. The raffle is priced at Rs. 20 per ticket.  

The organising committee further welcomed independent performers to participate in the Carnival. “We’d like to welcome street performers to join the celebration,” the committee said, while adding that no participation fee will be charged for such performances.
