Diphupar Naga Students’ Union holds 24th Biennial General Conference

Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) held its 24th biennial General Conference with the theme “Exploring alternatives” on October 12 at Local Ground Diphupar Village. The inaugural program was attended by Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Advisor, Rural Development, Government of Nagaland as special invitee, President Kumlamo Patton and Education & Statistics Secy Kuvi Assumi informed in a press release.  

During the inaugural session, he stressed on the theme “Exploring alternatives” and called for environmental responsibility and advised to take pledge to plant 10 Saplings at our homes.  

He questioned the delegation on how many plants survive and grow which should be our core priority. He pointed out that the climatic condition has changed due to our lapses in taking care of our environment.  

While focusing on backdoor appointment, Dr Nicky challenged the males to over shine females in their academics and to work harder.  

He also urged the students to maintain dignity of labor among Nagas and preserve their identity.  

The guest earlier unfurled the union flag and unveiled the 2nd edition of DNSU Biennial Journal.  

The program was chaired by Zuthungbemo K Ngullie and Rev Candid Sareo invoked God blessings. The welcome address was delivered by Aaron Assumi, Convenor Organizing Committee and a Presidential note was delivered by Kumlamo Patton, DNSU President.  

Solidarity messages were given by Kekhwetsu Khutsoh, Head GB Diphupar and Imtiyapang, General Secretary, Naga Students Federation (NSF).  

An awareness campaign on “Clean and Green: my environment, my responsibility” was also conducted with Er Aghali S Swu, Assistant Environment Engineer, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) as the resource person. She laid out the cause and precautions on global warming and other environmental issues. The resource person also urged the students to preserve the environment and walk on to strive for best steps.  

An interactive session was also held between students and resource person on regard to environmental responsibilities. A pledge and signature campaign was initiated by all the delegation present.  

The DNSU elected its new team of office bearers on October 10 for the tenure 2018-2020 with Pitovi Achumi as President and Grizel A Ngullie as General Secretary.
