District administration visits fire victims

Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): Dimapur district administration led by ADC Sara S Jamir along with police, paramilitary forces and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) members today visited the site where a fire broke out at Y Zhimo colony, Signal Basti, Dimapur on March 23 around 8:30 pm.  

The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained but it is suspected to be due to short circuit, stated a press release from N Zubenthung Ngullie, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) Dimapur Sadar.  

Altogether, 34 families residing in 27 houses were rendered homeless, it further informed.  

A sum of Rs. 20,000 was given at the spot by DDMA Dimapur on March 23 to the colony council to provide food and shelter to the affected families, while a sum of Rs. 5000 each was given to the affected families as immediate relief on March 24, according to the release.  

A relief camp was also set up at the site to provide temporary relief measures to the victims, it added.
