Kohima, November 10 (MExN): The District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) of Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kiphire, Tuensang, Wokha, Peren, Longleng, Phek, Kohima and Zunheboto observed Legal Services Day at their respective district on November 9.   The DLSAs commemorating the day by conducting legal awareness in schools, door-to-door campaign and setting up help desk for the public. At the same time the DLSAs also kicked off the 10 days Door-to-Door Campaign from November 9 to 18.   The Legal Services Day is observed every year in India in November to lay emphasis on legal literacy and increase legal awareness amongst the masses especially those who live in far off areas and where legal literacy is lacking.   The objective of the Door-to-Door campaign is to make weaker and marginalized sections of society be aware about the existence of Legal Services Institutions and availability of free legal services.   Awareness about the availability of free legal services will act like a catalyst which would enable the weaker and downtrodden aggrieved masses to assert their rights and approach the justice delivery mechanism for redressal of their grievances. This will lead to empowering of poor and weak.   Teams of Para-Legal Volunteers headed by panel lawyers in the 11 districts of Nagaland will be reaching out to the people at the doorstep through legal literature consisting of pamphlets, brochures, booklets etc. in English and local dialect, a press release from DLSA informed.
