DMC undertakes drainage clearing drive

Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): In order to prevent water logging problem especially in the low lying areas during monsoon season, Dimapur Municipal Council has set up 19 member special task force led by one sardar for clearing garbage and wastes blocking main sewerages and drains around the town.
A press release issued by the publicity Cell DMC informed that the garbage clearing work began on war footing note on May 6 starting from drain near Christian Higher Secondary School and Assam Rifles Transit Camp and will extend to other areas with shifts in a day. First shift beings at 3:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. After half and hour break, second shift starts at 6:30 a.m. and will continue till 10:30 a.m.
In this regard, the Sanitation Branch, DMC has urged to the people living in Dimapur to co-operate with the DMC to make the drainage clearing drive a success. DMC has called upon the public extend valuable suggestion and also extend assistance to help those scavengers do the work at their best. Public are also appealed not throw/dump wastes/garbage into the drains in order to avoid blocking of drains for it is the responsibility of all concern citizens.    
Advisor Er. Vikholie Nienu lauded the members of DMC STF teams stating that the nature of their job is something which most will never even do. Stating that ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness’ he appealed to the different churches in Dimapur to advocate the need of cleanliness of the surrounding and inculcate the spirit of civic sense and responsibility in the minds of the people.
