D/N Test: Will telecast Kohli and boys' training on match eve - Star

Kolkata, Novemebr 20 (IANS): The excitement in the City of Joy is clearly visible and while the first four days of India's maiden pink ball Test is already sold out as per BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, fans have also been coming to the Eden Gardens to watch the Indian and Bangladeshi players train for the Test which starts on Friday. And for those who cannot make it to watch Virat Kohli and boys train on the eve of the game on Thursday can witness the practice live.

Speaking to IANS, a Star official confirmed that this will be the first time that the training session on the eve of the game will be telecast by the host broadcasters.

"Yes, we will be telecasting Kohli and boys' training on Thursday as we wish to give the fans a feel of what goes on hours before the two teams actually walk out to play their maiden Day-Night Test," the official said.

Every corner of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which is undergoing renovation, has been overflowing with officials attending meetings, journalists following them for scoops and workers running against time to complete the work in time.

The Eden club house graffiti wore a pink theme, the mascot omnipresent and a pink balloon continuing to float over the colossal stadium.

The day BCCI president Sourav Ganguly managed to convince Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play a Test match under lights with a pink ball, CAB Secretary Avishek Dalmiya had said that they would leave no stone unturned to make the historic event a grand success. Since that day, CAB has dished out gala plans to make the match special.

Ganguly on Wednesday inspected the pitch for about half an hour as the covers were taken off for the first time with the 22-yard strip bearing a greenish look. He was closely followed by Team India head coach Ravi Shastri who too had a look at the wicket as India reached the ground for their first training session.

Shastri was in fact expected to check the wicket on Tuesday itself, but a delay in his arrival saw him change his plan and head straight to the team hotel.

Moments after inspecting the pitch, Ganguly spoke to the media and his excitement was clearly visible as he spoke about how it was after a long while that the first four days of a Test match had been sold out.

"The pitch looks good. I am very excited. When have you last seen a Test match where first four days' tickets have been sold out," he smiled.
