DNSU demands DCCI to immediately revoke resolution

Dimapur, June 25 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has expressed its strongest resentment and taken serious note on the recent resolution adopted by the business community under the aegis of Dimapur Chamber of commerce and Industry (DCCI) published in the local dailies on June 23, 2019.

“While all the four points may seem questionable and controversial to the general public, yet the Union would like to strongly stress upon resolution no.2 and 4. The seditious labeling of the word “illegal collection” to the NGOs and the students community in particular has tarnished the good image of the genuine NGOs and students bodies irreparably,” DNSU, President, Sedevilie Angami and General Secretary, B. Mhajan Tsopoe stated in a press release.

Seeking of financial assistance and contribution by students bodies from the well wishers including business community for genuine cause for students welfare cannot be termed as illegal collection and such random defamatory statements made by the DCCI is uncalled for, the Union maintained.

While stating that “pertaining to resolution no. 4, it is highly questionable and very much apprehensive”, DNSU pointed out that the resolution so adopted is “dictative” in nature and has irrelevant authority to control upon the rights of the consumers, and instead encourages business community to practice illegal means. In this matter, the Union stated it will continue to execute its duties by being vigilant on the issues which deprive the rights of the consumers.

The DNSU demands DCCI to immediately revoke resolution no. 2 and no. 4. “Failing which the office of DNSU will be compelled to initiate its own course of action.”
