DNYO nabs two habitual thieves

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 28 (MExN): The Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation (DNYO) apprehended two petty thieves on January 28. The apprehended were identified as one Ikramul and one Akheto, both in their twenties.
The DNYO parading the duo to the media today said that they are habitual offenders, who have been active in the 4th Mile area, stealing household items. According to the DNYO, Akheto, who is a present resident of Mao Colony under 5th Mile was caught from a house at 4th Mile in the wee hours of January 28. He was caught by the owner of the house when he was stealing chickens, who later handed him over to the DNYO.
During interrogation it was revealed that Akheto had another partner in crime. It turned out that they had both gone to two houses separately, with one of them getting caught, while the other managed to steal four domesticated rabbits and made his escape.
The one who managed to escape, identified as Ikramul, was caught in the afternoon today from a ‘video stall’ at Rail Bazar, based on the statement of Akheto, the DNYO said.
Further questioning of the duo revealed that they have been in their illegal trade for the past one month or so, targeting residential homes between 4th and 6th Mile.
During their thieving spree they had successfully stolen two bicycles, three LPG cylinders, several household utensils, pet dogs, goats, rabbits and chickens.
They sold almost all of their stolen booty to an unidentified person at Burma Camp during the past one month, the DNYO said.
Some of the goods they had stolen in the past one week were also recovered from a house in Burma Camp, after DNYO volunteers raided the house, based on the statement of the duo.
The recovered items included – two bicycles, three LPG cylinders, and four rabbits and a dog. The animals were those which Ikramul had stolen during their last outing on January 28. The recovered items will be handed over to their rightful owners, the DNYO said.
Meanwhile, the DNYO has barred the duo from setting foot in the Diphupar village jurisdiction in future.
