Don Bosco College Kohima 3rd annual Quiz Time held

  Kohima, June 30 (MExN): Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) held its 3rd annual ‘Quiz Time’ at the college premises on June 30 with Oken Jeet Sandham, Editor NEPS as the special invitee.   Applauding the college for organizing such event for students, Sandham encouraged the students to keep a nose for news and underlined the importance of updating oneself with current news around the world, said a press release from DBCK principal, Fr. Dr. P. Suresh Innocent.   “In this internet age we forward the message that we receive and we have ceased to be thinkers,” the speaker lamented. “Once academicians were called walking encyclopedia, but today hardly we gather knowledge. Unless we think, we are not going to bring change.”   He added, “We need well informed mind rather than educated mind. We need smart work than hard work.” Sandham concluded by encouraging the students to believe that each one is superbly talented.   In the competition, Ejonbeni, 3rd Semester from Department of Sociology was adjudged the first prize winner of this year’s ‘DBCK Quiz Time’, while Tiabenla, 5th Semester, Department of Sociology and Visietuo, 1st Semester, Department of Political Sciences secured the 2nd and 3rd positions. The winners were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000, and Rs. 2000 along with trophy, medals, and certificates respectively.   ‘DBCK Quiz Time’ is an annual event of the college held in three stages. It is compulsory for all the students of the college to participate in the first two stages, and top 10 students are selected for the final round, the release said. The final stage held on June 30 had five varieties of rounds.   The competition had Dr. Aosunep, Jarani Mao, Pinky Sagolsem, and Vehutalu Vero as quiz masters; Kezienuo and Aveo as judges; George for scoreboard; Victor for timekeeping; and Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer as the moderator.
