DPDB meet discusses Changtongya & Longleng road

Longleng, July 6 (DIPR): The Longleng DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of Parliamentary Secretary Land Resource & Excise and Chairman DPDB, Longleng BS Nganlang on July 6 at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner.  

Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) president, Chingan appraised the house regarding deplorable road condition between Longleng and Changtongya. He informed that PPC is initiating renovation of this road starting from July 8 and urged the members for donation. He also added about the previous renovation work done voluntarily by the Drivers Union and Chamber of Commerce and contribution by the DPDB members in 2016.  

Supporting the Phom Peoples’ Council requesting the DPDB members for voluntary donation for renovation of Changtongya and Longleng road which is in a deplorable condition threatening the lives of the travelers and passengers, Nganlang enumerated the steps taken by the DPDB in the previous years for improvement of the road.  

He asserted that many lives were lost and caused problems to the people due to depilating condition of this road and appealed to the members, NGOs, individual and other agencies of the district to volunteer their contribution. He expressed his view to file PIL, not against anyone but to compensate the road accident victims. He donated fifty thousand rupees for renovation of this road and urged to utilize the donated fund judiciously for the purpose.  

Briefing on Municipal Elections, he pointed out that the municipal election has resulted to untoward incident in the state. He said the Government has accepted the appeal of the NGOs and is trying to review the Nagaland Municipal Act as desired by the people of the state.  

Citing that posting in Longleng should not be considered as a punishment the Chairman exhorted the Officers to consider posting to the district as a challenge and a blessing, and cater to the needs of the people. He advised the members to continue with the task of providing better service to the people and change the scenario of the district and to attend the important official meeting compulsorily without deputing their subordinate officers. He also urged the officers to utilize the Chopper service available in the district which is cheaply available on passenger’s basis.  

While reviewing the previous agenda for creation of EAC Head quarter at Namching and up-gradation of EAC Headquarter, Yongnyah to SDO (C) post, Nganlang urged the respective administrative officers to arrange the particulars to fulfill the criteria and submit to the DPDB at the earliest for onward submission to the Government for approval.  

The board approved the LADP schemes for the current year 2017-18 for two Assembly constituencies. The DPDB members also voluntarily donated cash according to the sizes and resources of the department.  

ADC Longleng Temsu Wati urged the HoDs to submit the shortfall of officers and staffs in their respective department to the district administration for necessary arrangement for the forth coming general election. He also asked the PPC to report the progress of the road renovation in the next DPDB.
