Dr Shurhozelie defends Article 25

Kohima, May 26 (MExN): The Naga Peoples' Front President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, while addressing party workers at his residential office on May 26 justified his stance against the complaint lodged against him by the BJP/NDPP. Stating that he is “defending the Article 25 of the Constitution of India which safeguards freedom of religion, ” he reiterated his stance accoring to a press release issued by NPF Press Bureau.  

Lamenting that this freedom is absent in some states in the country where atrocities were committed against the minority groups. The Christians suffered the most, he alleged citing the data from “Persecution Relief-www.persecutionrelief.org, that "atrocities committed against the Christians rose from 177 incidents in 2015 to 351 in 2017.". He further urged his party fellows to take firm stand to defend their faith.  

Expressing his satisfaction over the progress of the campaign for the NPF candidate, C Apok Jamir for the Lok Sabha bye-election, he said he had full confidence on the victory with thumping majority if the election is held in a free and fair manner.
