Naga People’s Front (NPF), president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu said the present confusion in the party today is the handy work of those who do not have any regards to the Constitution of the party.

“When we all respect and observe the provisions of our Constitution in everything that we do for the welfare of the party, there will be no problem like what we have been facing today,” Dr. Liezietsu said while addressing the NPF general convention in Kohima on November 22.

Dr. Liezietsu strongly believed that the central government may not be fully aware of what is going on in Nagaland, adding “But in case the central government is aware of the situation and sitting over it, they themselves have rendered the Constitution of India irrelevant.”

Dr. Liezietsu said the Governor himself was the main player in humiliating the Constitution of India contrary to his obligation and responsibility.

“But I want to tell you that there is no reason to be discouraged for this temporary setback. We will overcome and I believe we can prove it to the Government of India in due course of time,” Dr. Liezietsu said.

NPF stands for peace and political settlement

Announcing that NPF party stands for peace and political settlement, he said that “Our opponent groups in Nagaland have been confusing the people with so many interpretations about the political settlement for their immediate political gain but we must understand the changing mind of those political tourists because those are the people who change their stand with the change of season and location like chameleon.”

“We fully appreciate the approach of the Government of India for taking all the stake holders on board for political talk in order to solve the long standing Indo-Naga political problem.”

NPF support PM on checking corruption

Dr. Liezietsu announced that the NPF fully support the policy of the Prime Minister of India in his effort to check corruption at all levels. “Unless the Nagaland government also follow the footstep of the prime minister in checking corruption and not allow the past practices in running the state government, Nagaland can never survive,” he said.

He also stressed on the need to bring about drastic changes particularly in mobilization of fund for state exchequer, adding strong hand is required to make strait the curve rod not only at the political level but also at bureaucratic as well as judiciary levels. The NPF also extended support to Nagaland churches in their efforts to bring about Clean Elections.
