Naga People’s Front (NPF) president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu today appealed the people of Nagaland to stand behind NPF candidates everywhere in the ensuing general election scheduled for February 27.

“We will try to rebuild the fair name of Nagaland again. Our candidates are mostly new faces and mostly among the younger generation,” he said while campaigning for NPF candidate Dr. Tsielhoutuo Rhutso from 9th Kohima Town A/C at PWD junction here this evening.

“We will have a new team with new programme and new vision,” he said adding, “We have new team and with that new team we will start new programmes, new hope.”

Seeking the support of the people to vote for Dr. Rhutso, the NPF President assured, “He will be in the government because this party is taking over the government again very soon.”

Stating that the NPF party belongs to the people, Dr. Liezietsu said, “We are the people of Nagaland and therefore NPF belongs to all of us. This is the party representing our identity. This party represents our personality and our aspiration.”

He stated that the party was set up at a time when Nagaland saw a lot of violence. “We have lost so many precious lives. We have lost so many properties. It was nightmare for the Naga people during that time,” he recalled.

“The priority of this party is, therefore, to bring about peace and settlement for the Naga people,” he insisted. “55 years ago our parents initiated this idea and we stand by it even today. We will continue to take that stand till we achieve our goal.”
