Drugs worth Rs 89 lakhs seized

  Imphal, August 20 (NNN): A drug peddler along with drugs worth Rs 89 lakhs was apprehended by the Assam Rifles in Manipur on Saturday, according to Assam Rifles source. On August 19 around 2:30 pm, personnel of 12 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended the drug peddler at vehicle check post, Khudengthabi of Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar. He was traveling in a Maruti van from Moreh Town to Imphal when he was stopped at the check post. After thorough search of the vehicle, 60 grams of heroin and 11900 WY tablets worth Rs 89.50 lakhs were recovered. The recovered drugs alongwith the apprehended man was handed over to Customs authorities at Moreh, according to the Assam Rifles. The Assam Rifles did not reveal the identity of the drug peddler.
