DUCCF irked by proposed transfer of Police Commissioner

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 1 (MExN): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF) has expressed displeasure at the state government for the proposed transfer of the incumbent Commissioner of Police, Dimapur.   Terming the proposed transfer of Limasunep Jamir within a year as totally uncalled for, a press release issued by DUCCF through its media cell said Jamir was brought in at the worst time of law and order situation and he had proved his mettle.   Dimapur being the commercial city with a teeming population and critical law and order situation, to handle the law enforcing agency needs a stable and experienced Commissioner, the Federation stated.

Stating that the present Commissioner has gained the best experience and has built the trust and confidence of public and all NGOs, the Federation felt that transferring him after a short stint would be a great loss not only for the public but also for the law enforcing agency. Questioning such “immature act by the government,” the Federation said such act of “shuffling and transferring at whims and fancy” before completion of minimum required term was unjustified.

Also alleging that such actions before the election were the handiwork of the “vested interest of the ruling political party,” the Federation said sincere public officials must not be used as pawns in the dirty political game.

Therefore, in the larger interest of the public, the Federation has urged the government to immediately cancel the transfer plan and allow the Commissioner to complete the minimum requisite term.
