DUDA Advisor visits Aboi, Longching; Review security situation

  Mon, June 21 (MExN): Adviser to Department of Under Developed Areas, N. Bongkhao Konyak, visited Aboi and Longching on June 20, to review security situation regarding the ambush of 40 AR patrol team near Aboi Town on June 17.   According to a DIPR report, he met with the NGO leaders and administration of Aboi and Longching. He said he had come on behalf of the government of Nagaland and elected members of Mon district to “share the problems and fear of the people of Aboi and Longching.” He appealed to all the public to cooperate with the government and administration to bring peace and tranquility in the area. “We should appeal the NSCN (K) to return to ceasefire in the greater interest of the Naga people,” he said, according to the DIPR.   He also met the bereaved family of Late Sepoy Hungnga Konyak at Longching village and gave the condolence message on behalf of the government and elected members of Mon District. He also rendered financial help to the bereaved family.   He met with the Major Y.K. Lohani, 40 Assam Rifles F/Coy at Aboi and appealed to “love the people and work together with the administration and NGO leaders to bring peace and tranquility.”
