ECI will go with the merit of the case: NPF Noke

Dimapur, March 15 (MExN): The NPF Noke Camp giving their takes on the March 13 hearing before the Election Commission of India (ECI), today stated that the ECI will give the verdict on the merit of the case and would rule in their favour.
The Spokesperson NPF Legislature Party Imkong L Imchen narrating the “much awaited hearing” of the NPF Party symbol case, in a press note claimed that the ECI has given a “special audience” to them to prove their majority on March 12, where all the 20 NPF MLAs led by Kaito Aye and Noke Wangnao were physically presented before the ECI. Besides the 20 NPF MLAs from Nagaland, two NPF MLAs from Manipur and two MPs of Nagaland were physically present at the meeting.
On March 13, the press note added, the ECI allowed 10 (ten) persons each to both Noke Wangnao and Shürhozelie Liezietsu camp to watch the proceedings and the petitioner and respondent advocates presented their argument as per the merit of the case and the argument portion was formally concluded.
However, the the principal defence counsel of Shürhozelie camp,  Advocate Abhishek Singhvi requested the ECI to give more time for further submission of the number of MLAs, Central Executive Council (CEC) and vote share etc and  ECI granted one-weeks time to them for written submission, Imchen further informed.
Highlighting the fact that the counsel for  Shürhozelie camp, Abhishek Singvi, is one of the Congress Spokesman, the NPF Noke camp maintained that, the political overtone indicates the relationship between Dr. Shürhozelie and Sonia Gandhi and the support of Indian National Congress has become “understandable.”
“Yet we trust that the ECI has got nothing to do with political parties or whatsoever, except the merit of the case,” the press note further stated adding that both  Noke and Kaito are “satisfied that the ECI will give its verdict on the symbol issue in their favour.”
