A woman avails medical care at a Village Health and Nutrition Day organized by Eco Generation, a Field NGO, under NRHM Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Dimapur, April 17 (MExN): Eco Generation, a Field NGO, under NRHM Department of Health and Family Welfare conducts regular Village Health and Nutrition Day, for Niuland block in collaboration with Prodigal’s Home, a Mother NGO for Dimapur District under NRHM.
A press note issued by Alam, Project Manager, Eco Generation stated that in the month of April 2011, the Village Health and Nutrition Day Events for Tokshe Village, Mughavi Village, Hukai village, Nizheto Village, Aghanaka Village went off with full participation with the community. Many mothers, children, and elder persons who need medical care were given medical services.
The note also stated that Village Health and Nutrition Day in these villages indicate the need of health care to be brought at the door step as visioned under NRHM implementation framework. Many children and mothers especially pregnant mothers and eligible couples were provided with medical services.
Some of the important highlights of Village Health and Nutrition Day were-Health Awareness Session on Maternal and Child Health, Family Planing, General Health Check-up, Catch- up round for immunization. The note said that the benefit which Village Health and Nutrition Day bring to the remote and rural villages is indeed a saviour for the community, as the rural lot is most neglected lot in terms of assessing the health care services. “Eco Generation will continue this effort in mainstreaming Village Health and Nutrition Day at the village level, so that this becomes a regular feature and regular event for the community,” further stated the note.
