Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): For a very long time the National Highway stretch from Purana Bazar to Airport junction in Dimapur has been an eyesore and numerous organizations have raised concerns for the same.
“The inauguration of the project itself took place almost a year ago and while there were concerns that the said project might never be initiated,” East Dimapur Sumi Youth Organization (EDSYO) stated in a press statement while welcoming the initiatives of the concerned authorities for “finally starting work on what has been long awaited and much needed one.”
However, the Organization also expressed apprehension about the amount of air and dust pollution arising as a result of the ongoing developmental work under its jurisdiction. “The pollution is not only hazardous for the commuters but for the residents living in and around the said highway stretch,” the EDSYO stated.
Towards the same, the Organization has appealed to the responsible authority to arrange and schedule for water to be sprinkled along the stretch where the work is taking place to help reduce pollution in the area.
