Toppers with Education Commission Diocese of Kohima during the felicitation celebration held at St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School Padampukri Dimapur.
Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima Nagaland felicitated the toppers from the Catholic Education Institutions of Nagaland on May 6, 2011. A press note issued by Rev.Fr.Mathew John Thuniampral, Bishop’s House Dimapur stated that the celebration was held at St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School Padampukri from where the topper of the toppers Imkum I Ozukam emerged. Rev. Sr. Rose Abiliu MSMHC the principal of the school and her team accorded a warm welcome.
Rev.Dr.Mathew John Thuniampral, the Secretary for the Commission for Education congratulated the toppers and said that the school is a community. Citing the Blessed Pope John Paul II, he said the presence of the consecrated religious, the priests and nuns within the educational community are indispensable. They are an example for voluntary selfless service and the pupils receive a vibrant image of the Church when they see priests, religious and lay teachers present together side by side.
He told the toppers that what they have achieved is just the first step of the big ladder of progress they have to make. They should keep the good spirit and be role models to the next batches.
In his concluding words Fr. Mathew stated that out of the 450 High Schools in the state Catholic schools are only 47 and out of the 50 top positions 38 of them were secured by the Catholic Schools. This deserves appreciation for the quality education given by the Catholic Schools
The note also stated that the chief guest Rev. Dr. George Punnolil, the Financial Administrator of the Diocese of Kohima in his speech urged the students to know who they are and have a vision for the future if they wish to achieve their goals in life. He added that God has definite plans for each one and we are to cooperate with the dream of God for us.
Rev. Sr. Scholastica, MSMHC, the Assistant Principal thanked the Education Commission and thanked all the toppers their parents, the principals and the team of teachers for their commitment for the cause of education.
