‘Education empowers women’

Miss Sümi 2018 pageant held with a difference

      “A positive thing that can come out from a beauty pageant will be a morale booster,” Tokaholi Shohe, Superintendent of Taxes, Dimapur and former Miss Nagaland and Miss Sümi said while speaking as the chief guest at Miss Sümi 2018 pageant hosted by Western Sümi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) at IMC Hall on November 12.   Held under the theme “Hi Noh Sülimi,” Shohe stressed on the importance of a person’s physical, mental and spiritual well being. She acknowledged the WSTH and the organizers for the new concept of equipping the young girls, not only on etiquette but on the overall development. She further encouraged the contestants to not neglect their education.   “Education is very important. Education empowers women,” Shohe asserted and encouraged all to have everything in moderation. “Work hard and achieve everything you want in life, contribute whatever you can to the world in your own little way.”   Aka from Hollotoli School was crowned Miss Sümi 2018, while Tsuniholi from SD Jain College and Nini from Honili Higher Secondary School were adjudged first and second runners up respectively. Winners of the ten subtitles were Miss Perfect- Niukali, Miss Congeniality- Tolito, Miss Talented- Vikali, Miss Beautiful Skin- Mughali, Miss Beautiful Smile- Tsuniholi, Miss Photogenic- Priscilla, Miss Radiant Hair- Akina, Best Walk- Mulatoli, Miss Fluent Sütsa - Kheboli and Best Ethnic Wear- Tohitoli.   The seventeen contestants were judged on Traditional Wear, Modern Ethnic, Cocktail Wear and Evening Wear. The ten finalists underwent a question and answer round, where Aka said she would look for poise, grace and confidence were she to be a judge in a pageant. The winner walked away with a cash prize of Rs 75000/- along with gift hampers.   The event was hosted by Mika K Tuccu. Judges for the event were Issac Zhimomi, Kavili Kiba Swu and Allen Benjamin. The show was directed by Zakali Zhimo and choreographed by Vili Chophy. Make-up artist was Calvina Zhimo, Tabulator - Omega G Sumi and Photo and Videography was done by Windy City Connections.   Earlier, invocation prayer was done by Kanili Aye, Associate pastor DSBA, opening address by Jolly K Awomi, President WSTH and Khekiye H Yepthomi, Convenor, Organising Committee gave the acknowledgement.   Special appearances were made by Insyng Taekwondo, Aghole by Vivi and Sarah, Pretty Rhythm, Viwoto Zhimomi, Vini K Chishi, Anatoli Yeptho and James Aye.
