Education is one of the most important human activities. It was born with the birth of the human race and shall continue to function as long as the human race lives. In support of the primary and elementary education, the government of India has provided mid-day meal to the student from classes 1 to 8 under government/government aided schools since last many years, however, the implementation of the mid-day meal in the state is not up to the expectation of the people till date.

As per the guideline and the provision of the scheme, every student from classes 1 to 8 under government/ government aided school is entitled to get Rs. 4.13 and Rs. 6.18 and good grains 100 grams and 150 grams per student per day for primary and upper primary respectively. Spot verification conducted by Kohima APP last week at schools chosen randomly revealed that in many schools mid-day meal is not implemented properly due to lack of awareness about the scheme. The government and the concerned department should stop taking advantage of ignorance due to lack of awareness existing at the grass root level. Every student should be provided according to their entitlement as well as quality education.

The school Education has department has recently issued order for detachment of those teachers attached to various office without performing their actual duty. This kind of order is to be supported by all the citizens where quality education system is needed in the society. Education should not be compromised at any cost.
