DC & DEO Wokha directs arms licensee

Wokha, February 10 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS, has directed all arms license holders under Wokha district to deposit their arms at their respective Police Station on or before February 15. The arms so deposited shall be kept in the police custody till one week after the declaration of result. The Officer In-Charge of each Police Station has also been directed to issue receipt to each depositor and maintain proper records of deposited arms.  

DC Tuensang informs drivers

Tuensang, February 10 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Tuensang, L. Jamithung Lotha has informed all the drivers and handymen of private vehicles requisitioned for election duty under Tuensang district to collect form 12 (application form for postal ballot) from DC office, Tuensang and submit the same at DC office (Postal Ballot Cell) on or before February 15.  

DC & DEO Mkg informs on requisitioned vehicles

Mokokchung, February 10 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal has informed all requisitioned vehicles for the Nagaland Legislative Assembly election 2018 in Mokokchung district to report at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung Town on February 17 at 9:30 am. He informed to strictly comply with the order and cautioned that disciplinary action will be initiated in the event of failure to do so.  

Grade IV employees informed

Kohima, February 10 (DIPR): All Grade IV employees drafted for election duty have been inform to report to EAC (Dev.), I. Changsang at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima for briefing on February 13 at 11:00 am. The DC & DEO of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS) further informed that necessary action will be taken against the absentees as per the Representation of the People’s Act 1950 and Conduct of Election Rules 1961.  

DC & DEO Peren to meet BLOs

Peren, February 10 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Peren, Smita Sarangi has called meeting with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of 6th Tening Assembly Constituency (A/C) and 7th Peren A/C on February 13 at Town Hall, Peren at 10:00 am.  

Polling personnel training in Tuensang

Tuensang, February 10 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Tuensang, L Jamithung has informed that the second round of training for polling personnel under the district is scheduled from February 15 to 17. All the employees drafted for election duty have been asked to attend the training without fail. Further, all the head of offices under the district have been directed to ensure the attendance of their respective staff. It was also informed that two recent passport size photographs may be submitted to the ID-Card Cell at DC's office, Arm Branch, Tuensang.  

Raid conducted in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, February 10 (DIPR): To ensure clean and free election, the administration and police of Zunheboto conducted a surprise raid and checking in Zunheboto Town on February 9 led by SDO (Sadar) Ajit Ranjan (IAS) and SDPO Police Zubenthung Lotha. The team seized 51 bottles of rum, 8 bottles of beer, and also busted a gambling den from where 13 people and the owner were booked and FIR proceedings lodged under Public Gambling Act. In another incident, Statistic Surveillance Team (SST) seized 3 bottles of banned syrup, 60 tablets of banned narcotics by the team led by DB Ghotokhu Zunheboto.  

Congress in 9th Kohima Town to support NDPP candidate

Kohima, February 10 (MExN): The 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) has decided to extend its “full support” to Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) official candidate Dr. Neikiesalie Kire for the coming general election. The decision was made during a meeting of the ACCC held on February 9. Therefore, the ACCC in a press release has appealed to the congress men, women and well wishers to support Kire for the “constituency, development and progress.”

Thavaseelan in a notification has informed the public, contesting candidates and all concerned that three General Observers and one Police Observer have been deployed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for Mon district. NPF members join BJP

Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): 16 members of the NPF Dimapur division, mostly from the youth wing, have resigned from the primary and active membership of the party with immediate effect and joined the BJP. A press release appended by the 16 people stated that they joined the BJP “to strengthen the BJP party, particularly the intending candidates Tovihoto from I Dimapur-I and N Jacob Zhimomi from 4 Ghaspani-I under Dimapur district.” The press release added, “We have faith that the pre-poll alliance of the NDPP and BJP will form the next Legislative Assembly of Nagaland. We are confident that the BJP party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Naga solution can be settled at the earliest.”  

Candidature dedicatory ceremony

Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): A ‘candidature dedicatory ceremony’ of Azheto Zhimomi, NPF candidate for 3 Dimapur III A/C will be held at Kiyeto village on February 12 at 11:00 am.  

Randomization of EVMs & VVPATs in Pughoboto

Pughoboto, February 10 (DIPR): EAC & EVM Nodal Officer of Pughoboto, Nuhuta Tunyi has informed all political parties and candidates under 13-Pughoboto Assembly Constituency that the randomization of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) recently received from the CEO Nagaland and Second Randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPATs for use during general assembly elections 2018 will be conducted at Dobashi hall, ADC office, Pughoboto at 10:00 am on February 15 and 16 respectively. All concerned have been requested to send representatives to be present on both the days.  

Vehicles to be reported on or before February 15

Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel has informed all the owners whose vehicles have been requisitioned for the Assembly Election 2018, and who have not reported for checking on February 10 as informed, to come and report to the Transport Cell, DC office, Dimapur during office hours on or before February 15. “Failure to comply with this notice will invite penalty under section 167 of the Representation of the People Act 1951, which may extend to the cancellation of the vehicle permit,” the DC stated in a notice.  

Standing committee meeting at Tuli

Tuli, February 10 (DIPR): A meeting of the Assembly Constituency Level Standing Committee for Tuli 21 A/C was convened at DB's court Tuli on February 9. Addressing the meeting, ADC Tuli, Rhosietho Nguori said that it is our responsibility to conduct free, fair and peaceful election. SDO (C) Tuli, L. Samuel explained on the model code of conduct and its importance. SDPO Tuli also appealed all the political parties to co-operate with the administration and police to ensure free, fair and peaceful election in Tuli AC. All the standing committee members attended the meeting where all political parties also willingly agreed not to hold processions during election period in Tuli AC.
