ENCSU holds black flag protest

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students' Union (ENCSU) hosted a black flag protest today against the Government of Nagaland and the Department of Higher Education in Kohima and in four Eastern Colleges for non release of full scholarship amount.

A press note from the ENCSU called upon all Naga students to extend support and cooperation to the union until the demand is met.

It further affirmed that the union is fully committed to fight until justice is delivered and due share is released in full. “The Department and the Government should not take advantage when your children/Naga students are suffering.” The ENCSU ask why the Government and the Department is still confidently hiding the wrong instead of admitting and coming up with the truth, and clarify in print media so that people see the clear picture,” it added.

It further demanded that the full scholarship would be released by December 8. “Failing which the department will be solely held responsible for any untoward incident thereof,” it cautioned, while demanding that the government respond within two days.

Meanwhile, the ENCSU informed that there is unspent balance of Rs 2.8 Cr for the year 2015-16 which the DoHE had clearly stated in the Utilization Certificate (UC) to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs that the same would be credited to the following year 2016-17 beneficiaries. It demanded that this amount be credited in addition to the full amount of the 2016-17 beneficiaries.
