ENCSU laments lukewarm attitude of Nagaland govt

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 25 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students Union (ENCSU) today lamented the lukewarm attitude of the Nagaland State Government towards the former’s demands regarding the NSEE results. It may be noted that the ENCSU had suspended its agitation following an appeal made by the Eastern Nagaland Legislator’s Union (ENLU).  

A press note from the ENCSU today listed out several demands, which it said needs to be attained within 48 hours, failing which it would resume agitation.  

It demanded that in accordance to the 15% reservation for the “backward tribes” of Nagaland, “Seven MBBS seats from the total of 49 MBBS seats and two BDS seats out of 11 BDS seats should be exclusive allotted to the backward tribes of Nagaland.”  

Once the demand of 4 MBBS seats and 2 BDS seats are allotted as per the demand of the ENCSU, it asked that the state government/department ensure safe admission for those selected candidates under special consideration It demanded that the 4 MBBS & 2 BDS seats should be allocated “exclusively for the 6 backward tribes of eastern Nagaland.”  

It also asked for action towards rectification of “irregularities and anomalies of guidelines” of the state government. This included the state government demanding for retaining of State Exam for a period of 30 years; and enhancement of reservation policy for a period of 30 years.
