End Malaria campaign launched in Wokha

Wokha, December 4 (MExN): A Malaria Elimination campaign on the theme “End Malaria for Good” has been launched in Wokha District.  

The official launching held at the DC Conference Hall on December 4 kick started with the setting up of a District Task force (DTF) which will work in collaboration with the different Governmental institutions like Agriculture, Fishery Education, Social welfare, municipal corporation, NGOs and other stakeholders.  

Speaking on the launch, Wokha Deputy Commissioner Dr Manazir Jeelani who is also the Chairman of DHS & DTF stressed on the importance of collaborating teams and to strive towards malaria elimination in the district by 2024.  

He also encouraged the staffs of NVBDCP while stating that they are faring better in comparison to national level being in the status of category 1 ( Pre-elimination phase). He called for further strengthening of BCC activities to penetrate the community and give awareness at all peripheral levels.  

Earlier DVBO Dr Zuben Kikon gave a keynote address and spoke on the need to be aware of situational analysis of the disease in the District. DVBC Wezolo Medo presented the trend and activities usually carried out in the district and Zuchamo Yanthan, MTS, highlighted the malarial scenario of the district.
