Enjoy a bite at the Local Baker!

Morung Express Feature Dimapur | September 27   If you’ve walked down River Belt Colony this week, you probably noticed that there is a sweet addition to Dimapur town! There is a new bakery in town offering a delicious selection of cakes, cupcakes, quiches and rolls. And it is barely a week since the launch of this simple and unassuming place called “Local Baker”.   Home baker Jordy Kiso who has been baking delicious treats for several years finally decided to open shop after much encouragement from her husband. “I’m starting with basics like quiche, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, butter cakes etc. I’m planning to slowly add other savory treats and pastries,” she informs. Not a newcomer to baking, Jordy has been catering for events and parties from home. With no formal training, she said that everything she knows she learnt at home, from her mother who is also an amazing baker.   Revealing how she cooked up the name for her lovely store, she said, “At first I thought of a lot of fancy names but eventually realized that it’s a small town and Local Baker sounded very apt so I decided to use it.”   A USP of the Local Baker, perhaps, is the fact that this lovely and generous baker wants to share her store with other home bakers! “I’m thinking of keeping baked goods from people who bake at home. Not everyone can afford to rent space and open shop,” she said. To start with, there are delicious, fresh breads at the store from another local baker called “B.J Bakes”.   This tiny and unassuming bakery is clean and simple- and we love it! Whether you crave for something sweet or savory, this is the place to head!   Local Baker is open from Monday to Saturday and located just near Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, River Belt Colony, Dimapur.
