'Entrepreneurship should be revolutionized'

37th OKM Conference underway

Ungma, January 18 (MExN): The 37th Ongpangkong Students' Conference (Ongkongpang Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM)) being held at Ungma Village, some 10 Km away from Mokokchung, entered its second-day on Thursday. On the occasion, Retired Additional Development Commissioner Dr. Temsuwati released the Conference souvenir and underscored that students should understand their innate talents and pursue their studies accordingly.  

Pointing to the saturation point of the educated unemployed youths problem and limited availability of government job in the state, the retired bureaucrat said that the time to depend on government jobs to secure livelihood is over. A new age survival opportunity, which is entrepreneurship, should be revolutionized, he added.  

Aotula T Imchem, IPS, while exhorting the delegation encouraged the students to be consistent in life and to muster the courage to say what is right and wrong boldly. She also urged against pointing fingers at others but instead look for the good things that can bring positive change in our society.  

Earlier, Rev Ponen Longchar, pastor of MTBA pronounced a special prayer for the students while OKM president delivered the welcome address.  

During the programme OKM Achievers Award was also given away to thirty-one achievers who secured Gold Medals in the different field of Academic, toppers at HSLC & HSSLC examinations and clinching prestigious posts under UPSC and NPSC.  

Naga political scenario at a crucial juncture

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) General Secretary Imtiyapang Imsong called upon the student community to work towards a permanent Naga political solution and peace if Nagas desire a better future.  

Imsong was addressing the morning session of the second-day of 37th Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang at Ungma on Thursday. He asserted that Naga political scenario has reached a crucial juncture that people are now “thirsty” for solution.  

In this connection, Imsong informed that NSF will be organizing a rally on January 23 for Naga solution before election and called upon the students of Ongkongpang not to take the back seats but to be in the front seat in the fight towards permanent solution and peace.  

The NSF General Secretary also impressed upon the student delegates that NSF’s mandate is not only meant for students’ welfare but also to work for the cause of the Naga. “If the students are tomorrow's future than the students should voice out today for tomorrow's future,” he maintained.
