‘Equipping teachers for implementation of curriculum in peace studies’ workshop

Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): A four day workshop on ‘Equipping teachers for implementation of curriculum in peace studies’ was inaugurated by Kuholi Chishi, Director of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland on October 23.  

A total of 20 faculty members from seven educational institutions in Nagaland are participating in this workshop. This workshop is being hosted by the Indigenous Research Centre of Sakus Mission College, a program that is being given by the Center for Peace Studies, Madras Christian College, Chennai, in partnership with United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.  

The workshop aims to impart training for teachers from both secular and theological disciplines in contexts where severe conflicts have impacted life, and peace-building is an uphill task. The workshop is designed to make a difference to the social reality of conflict situations by preparing academic institutions and faculty members to train the students to be peace makers.  

A press note received here stated that the main resource persons for the workshop are from MCC: Dr. Alexander Jesudasan, Principal, Rev. Dr. John Prasad, Dr. R. Belinda and Rev. Joshua Jayaseelan. Other resource persons are Dr. Aküm Longchari and Dr Lanusangla Tzudir.
